These are different specifications. We quote each as its own grade.
| Grade | What it means | Typical use | What we agree |
|---|---|---|---|
| Washed | Processed to reduce soluble salts. Treatment is stated per lot. | Nurseries, controlled growing, propagation | EC target range, units and test method written into the specification. |
| Unwashed (natural) | Not washed. Soluble salt level depends on the lot. | Blending, soil conditioning, downstream processing | Ask for the lot value on the agreed method before approving. |
| Buffered | A separate treatment from washing. | Buyers who specify it | If you need both washed and buffered, say so. Each is quoted as a defined grade. |
An EC number without units and a test method is incomplete. See how to compare EC across quotes.
Formats
| Format | Stated size (compressed) | Stated expansion | Treatment options |

We quote against a target range, with units and the test method written in the specification. A bare number such as "below 2.0" is not enough to compare two suppliers, so we ask for the method before confirming.
No. Washing reduces soluble salts. Buffering is a separate treatment. If you need both, say so in the enquiry and we will quote each as a defined grade.
Trial, standard-carton and custom MOQs are different. We confirm the applicable minimum in writing with your quote.
Use the block calculator. It converts the volume you need into blocks using the supplier-stated expansion. Actual expansion varies, so we confirm it on a sample before a large order.
Yes. Mixed orders are packed and dispatched together where the carton plan allows. Tell us the pot, liner, disc or pole sizes on your block enquiry.
Coco peat or cocopeat
Coco peat is also written cocopeat, and is sometimes called coir pith or coco coir. It is the fine fraction made from coconut husk, sold as compressed blocks that expand with water. The name matters less than the specification: grade, particle structure, EC with units and test method, moisture basis and pack.
For pallet and tonne quantities, compare quotes by expanded litre, grade and pack plan, not by price per kilogram alone. Our guide to comparing bulk quotes has a worked example, and the block calculator converts litres into whole blocks.
If you are replacing peat moss, the grade of coco peat matters, because soluble salts differ between washed, unwashed and buffered material. Read coco peat versus peat moss and the EC guide, then ask for a paid sample from the grade you plan to buy.
We quote across India from Bengaluru, and for export. See blocks for growers, retail packs and block export, and prepare your brief with the RFQ checklist.
